Is Your Job Wishlist Longer Than Santa’s?
Like Santa, The Perfect Job Doesn’t Exist. But There’s a Better Gift.
Remember when you were a kid, writing to Santa was a serious operation! We’d grab a crayon, and some lined paper, and start listing everything we wanted:
A new bike.
Gymnastic Barbie
The latest video game.
A pony (because, why not?).
Oh, and world peace… to cover all bases.
The sky was the limit, and Santa was our guy. We’d write down everything—everything we thought could make us happy. We’d send it off with total confidence that the big man in the red suit would somehow deliver. Of course, most of us woke up to something like socks and a board game instead of a pony, but hey, we dreamed big!
Fast forward to where you are now, guess what? We’re still making wish lists… but this time, they’re all about the perfect job. And if we’re honest, those lists are starting to sound just as ridiculously ambitious as our childhood letters to Santa.
Here’s how it usually goes:
A job with meaning and impact.
A big paycheck, because, of course.
Flexibility to work from anywhere (preferably a beach).
Career growth—constant promotions, please.
A positive company culture with free snacks and unlimited holidays.
An emotionally stable and mature manager (ok, I get that!)
And hey, let’s throw in a mission to save the world, too, while we’re at it.
Sound familiar? I get it. We all want it all. Who wouldn’t? But here’s the thing: jobs like that? They’re about as real as Santa - sorry to burst your bubble. Most traditional jobs just weren’t built to check all those boxes. They’re either amazing at one thing and lacking in another, or they don’t align with what’s truly important to you.
So, what if I told you there’s a way to get closer to that wishlist? A way to tick more of the boxes that truly matter to you? The answer might not be sitting under the Christmas tree, but it is something you can give yourself: your own business.
When you create your own business, you’re in the driver’s seat. You get to choose what matters most—whether it’s impact, flexibility, income, or all of the above. Sure, it’s not as simple as is sounds. It’s a process, and yes, it comes with sacrifices - but you choose which sacrifices to make! When you’re calling the shots, you can build a career that’s far closer to your dream job —and one that actually fits your life.
This holiday season, instead of sending Santa (or your friendly recruiter) another impossible wishlist, why not take matters into your own hands? Start creating a plan for the business—and life—you’ve always wanted. Shift your mindset from “I wish” to “I’ll build.” And trust me, that’s where the magic happens.
To help with that, I’ve created the Solo Business Co-Pilot Program. It’s designed to guide you step by step through the process of building your own business, whether you’re ready to dive in full-time or want to start small on the side. We’ll answer the big questions, map out a strategy, and make sure you’re set up for success.
Because sometimes, the best gifts are the ones you give yourself—and what’s better than the gift of freedom, independence, and a career built on your own terms?
